I've been reading the adorable book "My Mom Style Icon" by Piper Weiss lately and with each picture and every story, I become more and more fascinated. I love old photos and to hear the back stories is an extra plus. As I pass each photo, I can't help but think, "My mom and grandma should totally be in this!" I had heard of this awesome blog a while back, but always forgot to submit so I figure now is as good a time as any to show the world my favorite style icons: two ladies I like to call Mom and Grandma.
My grandma, Lorenza, seemed to have an enviable collection of dresses. The top photo is one of her posing with her son Abel (or Uncle Abel to me now) April 1977 in what is pretty much my ideal outfit. The pointed collar..the polka dots..what's not to love? Now-a-days, she's definitely one stylishly modern lady, but it's her 1960's and 70's style that I can't help but covet.
Here she is sitting pretty April 1977.
Here she is on the left with her two sisters and her sister's husband. I'm totally digging her sister's patterned peter pan collar dress.
Speaking of peter pan collared numbers, it's January 1972 and she's sportin' a darling one.
Here she is looking cool March 1971.
She's grabbing a drink in style April 1973.
It was a 1970's Merry Christmas.
Everyone in the family was stylin' July 1969.
Working hard..
My Mom, Cynthia, represents an entirely different kind of glamour that I can't help but admire and love. She was and continues to be the kind of women who loves to dress to the nines and is full of fabulous flair from her hair down to her heels. Would you believe this lady is a police officer?! From the very beginning, she threw all stereotypes out the window with her badass stylish self.
Yes, that's me on the right. No, I wasn't a pageant baby.
Can anyone else sort of see this suit on Lady Gaga or Anna Dello Russo?
She's one classy lady!
For some reason, this is one of my favorite pictures of my mom. She looks so effortlessly cool. It's something I can only try and imitate with those awesome glasses and Fendi bag handed down to me.
The last picture I'll leave you with seems appropriate for this month. Even Halloween was a day that called for glamour so here she is getting her fabulous witch on. I guess I was a fairy or something, but who's even looking at me when this chic witch is walking around?
