Collection Love: Rachel Antonoff Fall 2012

It’s pretty much impossible for Rachel Antonoff to create anything less than ridiculously adorable so, of course, her newest fall 2012 collection is nothing short of charming and wearable. From shiny jewels and peter pan collar dresses to Bye Bye Birdie sweatshirts and floral creeper shoes, there is a youthfulness to a lot of the pieces that feels both elegant and modern, but playful at the same time. You can't help but fall in love with details such as whimsical heart-shape pockets and dainty bows on cream-colored mary janes. At one point, I told fellow bloggers that looking at this collection was tortuous because I wanted every piece!

A high point of the presentation included actress Alia Shawkat (of Arrested Development) singing a some delightful jazz numbers. She kind of blew me away actually, very Billie Holiday-esque. All in all, a lovely collection for the modern girl who loves a bit of a quaint, vintage touch.

Some of the shoes will soon be available on the BASS website!

There were my favorite!

Collection Love: Red Valentino Fall 2012

The season’s collection by Red Valentino is fashion confection at its best. The designs are filled with pink pastels and dainty details from the tops of their bows to the tips of their toes. There’s even a dash of Marie Antoinette in the girly accents and sassy round skirts. Made up of tulle and taffeta, these fairy tale dresses and whimsical separates are light as a feather with modern charm to spare. The sweet sister line is the perfect addition to the classic elegance of the Valentino we all know and love. Red Valentino is total pink perfection!

Fashion Week: Christian Siriano Fall 2012

Whether going to shows or eyeing collections from afar, I still get giddy excited every time fashion week rolls around. From the street style and celebrities to the actual show, everything about fashion week is exciting! This year I was lucky enough to see Christian Siriano's newest collection for Fall 2012.
I had the full fashion experience. Right before the show started, I was washing my hands in the bathroom next to a woman in a lovely, bright fushia dress (A Siriano of course). She complimented my hat, which happened to be a leopard pill box hat, and we both left at the same time. Suddenly she was mobbed by photographers and I realized....
..it was Mena Suvari looking "fierce" as Christian would say!
Then I ran into Brad Goreski (stylist/former Rachel Zoe assistant). Is it weird I told him that I relate to all his fashion career meltdowns on It's A Brad Brad World?
Looking dapper as usual!
Getting back to the clothes, I've seen a few Siriano collections in the past, along with his work on Project Runway, but this collection caught me by surprise. He's known to favor dramatic, almost over-the-top dreamy fashion, but he held back this season, just the perfect amount. The clothes were beautiful and made for the every-day elegant woman (except for the sheer nipple tops, I just can't get behind those). Overall, it was a dark, yet softly glamourous collection full of sophisticated details and hints of drama thrown in where you'd least expect.
I especially liked this flowy wine-colored dress. I'm thinking...Rooney Mara at the Oscars?

Look Book Love: Boy by Band of Outsiders

With each new season, the polaroid-filled look books by Band of Outsiders become cuter than the last. With past participants like Jason Schwartzman, Andrew Garfield and Kirsten Dunst, you can’t help but fall in love with each new set stylishly quaint photos. This season does not disappoint with featuring Michelle Williams as the adorable new face of Boy by Band of Outsiders. Somehow Williams makes frolicking through a park and rifling through an office look as cute and chic as can be. I’m totally smitten and promise you will be too!
