Let's Go to the Hop!

Twee Valley High // Unique Vintage Prom
If I had a prom to go to, this dress would be my first pick. It's cheerful and swishes around with a small, built in petticoat. I feel ready for a sock hop! I have an endless amount of dresses, but this is one I'll be saving for a special occasion. It's prominantly displayed in my apartment and makes the prettiest decoration. For today's post, I paired it with my dreamy ice cream purse and a new Ronnie Spector broach, which was a gift from Jason.

Lesley Gore, Teenage Voice of Heartbreak, Dies at 68

Leslie Gore was one of the girl group greats and a strong feminist. I feel so lucky to have seen her in 2011 and will always cherish that memory. My go-to karaoke song has always been "You Don't Own Me" and I'm sure it'll stay that way. As my favorite singers get older, it breaks my heart to see them go.

Parks and Recreation ended recently and we all know how I feel about that so here's a slew of articles, homages and positive think pieces (who knew that existed?!) about the show.
I was super saddened to hear about the death of Parks and Recreation writer Harris Wittels. A friend of mine recommended I listen to this podcast he did, which was pretty great.

This is a great recap that emphasizes the touching importance of this show.

I also really enjoyed this article about the idealism the show leaves behind.

The cast reunited on Late Night and the interview is amazing. It definitely made me shed a few tears. I'm not sure if there's ever been a more positive cast.

Lastly, I leave you with this amazing article: A Leslie Knope in a World Full of Liz Lemons. We should all strive to be more like Leslie Knope, someone passionate about their job and an amazing friend.

Happy (Super Duper Belated) Valentine's Day

Twee Valley High // Happy Valentine's Day!
I had a doggie emergency that day so Valentine's Day was put on hold. Since then, we've celebrated by switching food duties for a night. I made the main course, lasanga, and Jason made a giant no-bake peanut butter cup (yum!).  We also went to dinner at Hotel Chantelle, which has some super delicious appetizers fyi. I comissioned this amazing illustration by Morgane Carlier, who came highly recommended by a variety of bloggers. It came out so amazing!
