Links I Love: Mad Men Edition

With one episode left, I found it fitting to dedicate this week's Links I Love to Mad Men, a show that has helped redefine the quality of television. I was lucky enough to nab tickets to hear the cast reminice about their favorite scenes. It was a honor to get some insight on what the creator and the actors were thinking.

This link is especially great since they transcribed all the most interesting bits of the event. 23 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About “Mad Men,” According To The Cast And Creator. I definitely learned a few new things about Mad Men and the amazing people behind it. Here are some shots I was able to sneak while there, along with a video of Christina Hendricks talking about the first episode.

Now for artistic fun...

Gorgeous vintage wedding photos: Nuptial Nostalgia

I'm not sure how I feel about the Time Warp Wives in the video below. Obviously I like the aesthetic and am striving for similar home decor. Also, if someone wants to be a housewife, more power to them, that's the idea of feminism. However...when these folks had tea with their "similar friends," they seemed so judge-y. They kept talking about the morals of a better time..which seems super naive. Maybe manners were better, but I would never want to live in an era that had 10x more misogyny and racism than it does now..

This is one of my top five favorite movies.

Thanks so much to Sara for including me in her March Fashion Favorites! There are definitely some bloggers I will soon be following. Sara's own style is SERIOUSLY amazing.

Also, website Shiny Shiny called me one of the 9 most stylish women on the internet, which was a crazy honor. Thank you!

Lesley Gore, Teenage Voice of Heartbreak, Dies at 68

Leslie Gore was one of the girl group greats and a strong feminist. I feel so lucky to have seen her in 2011 and will always cherish that memory. My go-to karaoke song has always been "You Don't Own Me" and I'm sure it'll stay that way. As my favorite singers get older, it breaks my heart to see them go.

I was super saddened to hear about the death of Parks and Recreation writer Harris Wittels. A friend of mine recommended I listen to this podcast he did, which was pretty great.

This is a great recap that emphasizes the touching importance of this show.

I also really enjoyed this article about the idealism the show leaves behind.
