What I Wore To Christmas in Texas

What I wore is a lot of amazing Christmas sweaters! The Christmas sweater I'm donning above was my moms and I literally fell in love. I mean, the tree and chains are cute enough, but the collar! oh the collar! There's no way I could resist a cream lace collar. I'm also donning my fabulous new Ferragamos (Thanks Mom!).

Sparkly holiday nails!

I'm wearing two of my favorite Christmas presents in the photo below, the red American Apparel cape, which was perfect for Texas weather, and my new bag..which I'll probably do a whole entry on....ooo.m.g.

The other sweater I wore was more silly and fun, but equally amazing. Hearts, cats, and bows! Oh my!

What I Wore To Work

So we recently got some Christian Louboutin boots at work and of course I had to try them on! They were a little a little big and verrry high, but pretty fantastic. ...Oh, but there was a moment where I almost lost my balance though...

Campaign Love: Louis Vuitton Spring 2012

I love sweets and Louis Vuitton's newest campaign is sweet as sweet can be. The ads, set to run in February, are pretty much a wonderland of fashion confection. Shot by Steven Meisel and starring Daria Strokous and Kati Necher, the Louis Vuitton dresses fits the girly backdrop to a T. Marc Jacobs told WWD, "It's all very soft and very sweet, yet at the same time very bold and very graphic" I couldn't agree more! The unabashed sweetness makes it one of my favorite ads of the season.

Editorial Love: Elle Fanning in A Magazine

A Magazine's newest issue (which I can't wait to get my hands on) was curated by the always amazing Rodarte sisters, Kate and Laura Mulleavy. One of my favorite editorials from this issue, shot by Bill Owens, stars the lovely Elle Fanning  in an array of stunning Rodarte gowns from their Spring 2012 collection. There's a bit of seventies nostalgia and a whole lot of couture! What's not to love?

What I Wore To Winter Brunch

I went to one of my favorite brunch places, Five Leaves, and had the most delicious ricotta pancakes! I wore a shirt from American Apparel, a vintage sweater, skirt from Express, Hue tights, and Bass saddle shoes.

BUST Craftacular Success!

The BUST Craftacular was a huge success! We had some DJ technical difficulties in the morning, but it all worked out in the end. I ate delicious meatballs and cannolis and bought yummy honey from a beekeeper I also made a snowglobe from a jar with my friends and the dinosaurs below!

Photographs taken by Gabi Porter.

Oh yeah and we even met my favorite Project Runway designer, Jay McCarroll!

My New Favorite Things

I recently snagged this hat at Urban Jungle for a mere $10! I'm obsessed. I wear it anytime I don't feel like doing my hair. The shoes below were an ebay adventure all their own. I'm not big on ebay, but when I saw brand-new Rachel Antonoff for Bass Wendy loafers online for $50 (originally $129!), I knew I had to try. I originally bid on the brown versions, foolishly assuming them were mine since I was the only bidder. I was outbid. Then these lovely black and white versions popped up and I watched that sale like a hawk and bid at the last minute. It was like a New Year's Eve countdown. I was paranoid I'd be outbid up until the last second, but I stayed the one and only bidder. It was kind of amazing.

What I Wore On My Birthday!

I got this dress in October, but when I bought it, I knew it would be my perfect birthday dress. I felt so pink in pretty like I was going to a fifties prom! I love everything about it from the soft sleeves and lovely pink bow to the length and overall bubblegum color.  I tried to use my accessories to simply compliment the dress since this pink confection is such a stand alone piece. The purse used to be my moms, the earrings are also thrifted and the shoes are classic Chanel.

I had such a lovely birthday this year. My best friend came into town and we had brunch and thrifted all day long. Then a whole group of us got together for dinner at Black Swan and drinks at Black Rabbit (no relation!). Check out some amazing blog shot "outtakes" where we all tried to crowd in!

 Hm..pensive thoughts are being had..

My New Favorite Sunglasses: Miu Miu Noir Fall 2011

Normally I couldn’t justify spending on fancy sunglasses. I’m much more likely to splurge on a classic bag, but I've been obsessing over these Miu Mius from the Fall 2011 collection since they showed up on the runway. Seeing them in the gorgeously ladylike ads starring Haylee Steinfeld put them at the top of my fantasy wishlist. Well, they didn't stay on that wishlist for long....after getting my first paycheck at a new job and making a trip to Bergdorfs (what? It was my birthday!), these beauties are officially my new favorite pair of sunnies.

They match the overall 1940’s vibe that Miu Miu does so well in that collection, yet the glasses come off totally modern and seasonable timeless. I’ve got a 1950‘s style sensibility so I really enjoy the angular cat-eye shape that subtly calls to mind a bit of that era as well...but the best part? They're kind of like Dorothy slippers..for your face!

Here's one red look I put together featuring the glasses, but I've kind of been wearing them every day even when it's raining or they don't remotely match. I'm even starting to be that lame person who wears sunglasses on the train..but they make me too happy to care!

Here's Tavi of Style Rookie rocking the shades.
