In between Jazz Lawn Party photos, catch a glimpse of my inspiration this week! I was creating a NewYorkDress post (my current day-job) when I found some of the cutest and quirkiest "Old Hollywood" photos. Most of them are perfect summer inspiration! For vintage beauty tips, head over to that blog post. I like to mix in a vintage vibe whenever I can.
What I Wore to the Jazz Lawn Party (Last Year!)
Tomorrow is officially the first day of the Jazz Age Lawn Party! Since moving to New York, I've gone almost every year. It's so much fun to dress up and spend the day on Governor's Island. Last year, my mom was visiting and I took her to this fabulous event. Here I am, a year later, just now uploading photos, but it's nice to look back and remember how much fun it was.
I always have a challenge dressing up in 1920's clothes. Vintage is hard to come by and although I love them, I only own a few drop-waist dresses. You know me, I'm a 50's/60's kind of gal so...as much as I tried, last year's attempt veered into sock hop territory. This year, I'm pretty excited about my look!
Take a gander at what I wore last year and check out some shots of the amazingly well-dressed attendees.
My mom looked so perfectly put together. She had a great 1920's flapper dress!
Some of the gorgeous attendees...
We spotted this adorable girl in her minty lace dress. She asked us to take her picture. Since we were matching, I had to get a picture with her as well!
I'm not sure why this girl looks so grumpy.
Here is some dashing young men in uniform.
Dancing festivities!
I can't wait to dress up and see the crowd tomorrow. Stay tuned for this year's ensemble...
What I Wore to NYC Popfest
I wore this cute summer look to the last day of NYC Popfest. I was short on time, which is when I break out the hats. The whole look felt fresh and super summery. I nabbed this tote from a show the day before. The Spanish pop duo was my favorite of the festival!
This yellow dress is from Modcloth, but I don't think they sell it anymore so here are a few similar options! (1/2/3)
What I Wore:
Dress: Modcloth
Shoes: H&M
Hat: Vintage
Broach: Vintage
More Exciting News!
If you follow me on social media, you might already know that I recently got a dog! This was a big step and I want to do a whole entry about my adoption process. For now, I'll just introduce you to Tallulah (as in "Gosh" if you like indie pop). She's a teeny-tiny senior at 10 years old and a mix of Dachshund/Shih Tzu (a Schweenie!). She is super low-key and adorable with a total puppy face. <3 <3 <3
I accept all forms of dog advice, especially for seniors. Feel free to comment with any helpful info or books I should read!
Hopefully I can be as glam as Jane Russell and Bette Davis with their cute lil pooches.
Here's another shot of Tallulah. What a sweet angel!
