New Glasses Put a Skip in My Step!


GlassesShop.com sent me a lovely pair of pink glasses. They suit me quite well and I've grown very fond of them. They literally match my hair AND my lipstick. What's not to love? I frequently get told I remind folks of Penelope from Criminal Minds. Turns out we have similar taste in eyewear...this is literally a still from the show.

A Moment of Dreamy Designer Shoes

Neiman Marcus brings to mind wonderful, shoe-rrifc memories. I associate it with graduation and growing up. One day, pre-ceremony, my mom took me to this famous department store, full of designer goodies. It felt like a momentous occasion. I glimpsed the glamorous shoes that lay in each lovely corner. As a fan of fashion, it made me to happy to sit among the bright, high-end accessories. That day, we were on a fabulous mission. She wanted me to own Chanel flats, the kind that go with everything. We left with beautiful ballerina slippers and a pair of glittery Guccis on sale. They were a gift, nay a symbol, for newfound adulthood. The extravagance and glamour of the shoes brought me to tears as my mom handed me this gift. There are bloggers who own designer everything, but it may seem silly, as a thrifter and dealmaker, being handed a beautiful designer item meant the world to me, especially at that age.

Although Chanel doesn't sell online, I gathered my current favorite shoes on the Neiman's website.

Getting My Groove Back

This year had some ups and downs. The job search was tough, but I also traveled with mom and spent holidays with family. Right now, I'm dealing with a mysterious medical situation involving Tallulah. It's crazy stressful, but getting better day by day. Keep your fingers crossed!

Due to stress and holiday treats, I definitely put on weight. It doesn't feel great to grow out of my fabulous dresses. Voodoo Vixen sent me this look and, although it's currently snug, the silhouette made me feel sexy at a time I needed it most. I usually go for A-line silhouettes, but this dress made me feel good about my curves at any size.

I'm really excited for the new year and planning new projects! I hope to get more involved online and "get my groove back" in a number of ways.

Due to my job search, when I'm not networking, I spend a lot of time at home. I love my apartment and how homey it truly feels. I'm all about home goods, especially cookware! This might be due to my marathon of Food Network madness (holla to Bobby Flay). 

I'm also a fan of absurd pillows, even if my couch is officially out of room. I put together a gift guide or wishlist of sorts as I browsed the plethora of online items.

Where have I BEEN?! I know..i know..my previous computer basically died, which made it difficult to do any sort of blogging. Paired with friends and family in town, it's been a busy season. Although fall has arrived, I don't feel quite done with pinks and pastels. Happiness Boutique recently sent some colorful samples, perfect for any season. I've worn them multiple occasions and especially love these green chandeliers. The shape is very modern art deco! The second pair adds to my abundance of floral accessories. I'm a fan of the pretty simplicity.  These were my top two but you can find more (well-priced) items on their site!

What I Wore to the Jazz Age Lawn Party 2015

This year, Unique Vintage asked me to represent them at the Jazz Age Lawn Party. I go every year and every year I try to create a 1920's getup. I'm a 50's/60's kind of a girl so I struggle with flapper. Unique Vintage came to the rescue with an array of jazzy dresses. I fell in love with this purple dream.

Day 1:

Day one was full-on flapper glam. I felt like a movie star in this gorgeous dress. While there, I ran into my photag friend Rachel. She looked adorable in lace! She shot some fabulous street style and we snapped a few selfies.

Beauty wise, I tried my hand at a wavy hairdo and a shimmery, smokey eye. I used clips to create a wavy front and teased the back all crazy. My lipstick is a dollar store beauty buy and the perfect shade of berry.

Day 2 

I really wanted a bright, sunny look for day two. I'm not sure how "period accurate" my outfit is, but it sure was fun. I went nautical and pastel with a sailor dress and a jaunty pink hat. It's very 20's meets 50's in the best possible way!

I'm not used to the lack of cat-eye, but it was a nice change for the day. I used MAC's Heroine shade to create the perfect heart shape lip. I was even featured on PopSugar!

Summer Sock Hop With Voodoo Vixen!

This retro print is the epitome of Twee Valley High! It's everything I love in life...sock hops and adorable dresses. I wore this fun, summer look to the Greenpointers market, where everyone (rightly so) fawned over Tallulah. That goofball of a dog spreads joy wherever she roams. After that adventure, we headed to a BarkBox event where I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of cute puppies. It was pretty much the best possible way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

This dress is incredible and a little risque! I've admired it from afar and now I feel va va voom in it. I've worn it twice already to NYC Popfest and to see my favorite band, Belle and Sebastian at Radio City Music Hall. Thanks to Pinup Girl Clothing (and Jasmin!) for making my dress dreams come true.
