My Life in Instagram: Favorite Things Edition

I set about thrifting in my hometown over the Christmas break and found quite a few treasures. Goodwill was kind of a bust, but Texas Thrift, a goldmine. This amazing, Prada-esque daisy jacket was one of my favorite finds. It doesn't quite fit me, but I'm thinking of putting it on Etsy sometime soon. The pattern is so cute and decorative, it's going to be kind of hard to let go. 

This strange, but adorable zebra purse also came from Texas Thrift. It's pretty different from anything I've seen before therefore, I didn't hesitate to grab it. 

One of my gifts this year was a fabulous vintage hat but alas my noggin was just a bit too big so I went back to the vintage store and traded it for these two dresses that I'm totally in love with! The one on the left is my fancy professional dress with a hint of 40's appeal and the one of the right is perfect for spring, but I've been wearing it out and about with cardigans and tights.

My new coat via Urban Jungle happens to be perfect for the weather right now. It's  incredibly warm and makes me feel ridiculously glamorous. Plus, let's just say, it definitely did not break the bank.

Ok, I don't technically own this, but it's amazing. It's homemade and understandably pricey, but if your heart desires, you can get find it on Etsy.

My New Favorite Cat Smock

We recently acquired this fantastic cat smock at Monk Vintage. I may have a weakness for all cat fashion, but the fact that it's a smock and not a dress made me hesitate before buying. "Should I buy this cat smock?" I asked the internet. The response was a resounding "yes" and "you absolutely must!" ..Who am I to argue?  Therefore, I am now the proud owner of cat smock. I feel like a kindergarten art teacher in the very best way possible. =)

My New Favorite Coat

I saw this coat at Monk and I immediately thought it would either be too small or too expensive, but turns out it was the perfect size and the perfect half off price! It's exactly what I've been looking for and I've worn it practically every day. It's great for this not too cold, not too hot weather we've been having. 

My New Favorite Things: Jason Wu For Target Edition

In all the designer for Target madness, I assumed that if I nabbed anything Jason Wu, it would be from a Target in Texas, but without getting up in the wee hours or staking out Target.com, I was able to nab some choice items. Yesterday, I went to Target after work around 8:30pm. I assumed all would be gone and most was..at first. After looking around Target for a while, I noticed that a bunch of things had been placed back on the rack (apparently returns from earlier madness). I was able to leisurely try things on and actually pick what fit best (the sizing is pretty strange btw). The above dress looks so pale in the photo, I didn't even notice it until I saw it at the store, but it fits like a dream, a very Audrey Hepburn dream. The top below is just a cute, semi-French looking summer top that will go with quite a bit. 

I got those two items from the store, but was able to get this pleated black skirt online. Normally I'm super wary of online shopping and sizes, but I ordered two sizes so shipping was free and I can return one to the store!

I'm so glad I was able to get a few of the items I loved without stressing out. The only thing missing is this adorable cat scarf....maybe I should just buy a cat print scarf on Etsy...

My New Favorite Things

This entry will be combination "What I Wore" and "My New Favorite Things" since one of my new favorite things is this red sweater I wore to work! Of course most of the stuff in this entry, including this new red sweater, are thrifted from my favorite magical place: the Goodwill Outlet! I do love a thrifty bargain and the adventure of possibilities.

In the barrel of bins that is Goodwill, I nabbed this adorable bow blouse.

I probably have more bags than ever necessary, but I couldn't pass up these classic, simple purses. There's one for summer and one for winter!

I'm a sucker for a vintage cup (Yeah, that's peppermint Kahlua in the background..and?)

My favorite find of the day and the conclusion to the treasures from Goodwill has to be these amazing elephant loafers. They've already gotten so much use and have replaced my staple penny-loafers which were quite worn down. What's not to love? There are elephants on them..

Here are a few other things I'm in love with at the moment. I got most of these over Christmas break, which was a while back, but I've since been able to use my favorites over and over again. 

Normally my mom's vintage treasures are way too small for me, but there are always just a few things that randomly fit. I thought I had discovered everything many years ago, but lo and behold this fantastic silk leopard top that fits me and my wardrobe to a T.

I got these classic beauties from my mom for Christmas and I've been wearing them to the office ever since. They make me feel fancy and grown up. They are the only heels I can walk around in. At one-inch, everyone keeps telling me they're not really "heels" though.

This dreamy Zatchels satchel is courtesy of my grandma. So cute!

These are also courtesy of my grandma. I love anything remotely inspired by russian dolls.

This was a gift I never knew I wanted, but have worn over and over again. I now own a leopard skin pillbox hat and I feel instantly chic when I wear it..like Edie Sedgewick..or an eccentric old lady.

The best gift of all was from my mom. It was the dreamiest dream bag of all bags, the Mulberry "Alexa." It's such a gorgeous color and I love how classic it is. It's a definitely a forever kind of bag. Love!

The only picture of me rocking my Mulberry so far is from Christmas when I wore a lovely cape I should also add to this list. I've always wanted a red cape and have looked high and low for a vintage one, but surprisingly this American Apparel version is pretty darn perfect! I just wish it wasn't so cold right now so I could use it.

My New Favorite Things

I recently snagged this hat at Urban Jungle for a mere $10! I'm obsessed. I wear it anytime I don't feel like doing my hair. The shoes below were an ebay adventure all their own. I'm not big on ebay, but when I saw brand-new Rachel Antonoff for Bass Wendy loafers online for $50 (originally $129!), I knew I had to try. I originally bid on the brown versions, foolishly assuming them were mine since I was the only bidder. I was outbid. Then these lovely black and white versions popped up and I watched that sale like a hawk and bid at the last minute. It was like a New Year's Eve countdown. I was paranoid I'd be outbid up until the last second, but I stayed the one and only bidder. It was kind of amazing.

So I went back to the happiest place on earth..no not Disneyland...the Goodwill Outlet! In my previous Goodwill Outlet post, I came back from the store giddy and full of stuff. This time, I went with a friend to show her the place and swore to myself that I would be extra picky...well, I WAS picky, but I found some great items for about $13 total! I've half created a list in the order of awesomeness. I found the polaroid camera above right when I was leaving for a mere $2. I know film is scarce and I already have a badass pink polaroid camera, but I can give this one as a gift or sell it. I'm pretty sure there's new film that works with it. The next item is probably my favorite in the whole bunch. It's this amazing 90's shirt that I'm pretty positive I wore as a kid. I can't believe it's in perfect adult size! I seriously cannot wait to wear this shirt. It's totally summery, but gosh darnit, I'm wearing it now!

I hesitated on this shirt, but it ended up being a great classic buy. I've already worn it once.

This is just a tad too small, but it was too pretty to pass up. Look at that collar..plus it was pretty close to fitting so I think I'll get there eventually or sell it.

This skirt is one of those things I just couldn't pass up, but will definitely be selling. It's a size 8 (way too small), but it's freaking Oscar De La Renta! It will soon be in my Etsy shop! 

I hesitated on this last one since it's just from Uniqlo, but it's pretty adorable and perfectly cute. It sort of reminds me of Christmas in a way and I do love a good cape..

My New Favorite Things

So..I've been meaning to do this for like a year, but I finally looked into thrifting in Queens. I always figured you had to leave Brooklyn and Manhattan to find good thrifting, but I always thought it was way difficult or why else would prices be so high?!? So I googled and what did I find? My dream place to thrift exists in NYC: The Goodwill Outlet. I had no idea there was a pay by the pound kind of place in NYC. In Austin, I would constantly go to Bluehanger, the Goodwill Outlet there and always found treasures. This kind of thrifting is not for the faint of heart though. It's literally a warehouse with piles of clothes to dig through. I broke a sweat at one point trying to dig to the bottom of bins, but I came out with a pretty great haul for $15 total. I tried to be picky though. It's easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of stuff there. I have so much, I need to be pickier and pickier when thrifting these days. 

Above is this awesome mustard jacket with fake fur. I thought it would be too small, but it fit pretty well and is perfect for the weather right now. Below is my find of the day. It's a beautiful sparky vintage dress in perfect condition. It's a tad small, but because of the way it's layered in front, it looks pretty good. I might end up putting it in my Etsy shop though so watch out for it!

I was kind of unsure of this sparkly kimono type thing at the store. It looks sort of weirdly shaped and I didn't have time to try it on over my clothes at the store, but let me tell you, it fit me like a GLOVE. It was a perfect fit and..kind of sexy at that. I have no idea where I will ever wear it though!

Ok, to be honest, these are flaking apart on the inside but the outside is soo cute and they fit so comfortably, I had to take them.

These black shoes are my favorite. They are SOO comfy and not even scratched or anything.

I nabbed these soft brown ones in good condition to either sell or give to my roommate if they're her size. I wish they were my size!

This flower tote with leather handles is soo cute, I love it for carrying my laptop and lunch. This black bag is the one thing I regret not looking thoroughly at. I love the outside, but the inside is all torn apart and the snap needed to be glued or something. I might try and fix it.

I love a cute, vintage mug. I couldn't resist. 

I left the store beaming with glee. I seriously get a high from cheap thrifting. 

...It's kind of weird actually.
