Blogger Love: A Beautiful Mess

Honestly, I don't quite have the patience for most D.I.Y.s, but once in a while something in a D.I.Y. blog or feature in BUST will catch my eye as something worth attempting. Color me surprised when I realized that almost every D.I.Y. post or recipe in A Beautiful Mess was looking totally amazing/do-able. There's much more to the blog than just D.I.Y. though. This fantastic blog from blogger Elsie Larson is one of my new favorites simply because it's filled with everything  from D.I.Y. tips/projects and delicious recipes to fabulous outfit posts and gorgeous photos. You know a blog is good when you find yourself constantly bookmarking specific entires. Here are some of my favorites so far:

Blogger Love: Vintage Vandalizm

There’s a corner of vintage wonders called Billy’s Antiques where a friend of mine sells some amazing jewelry at amazing prices. I once took a street style photo of a girl who works there sometimes, Jasmin Rodriguez, and have kept up with her blog, Vintage Vandalizm, ever since. I love that her style sort of blends rockabilly, pin up, and classic vintage into a pretty modern look.  She reminds me of an early Dita Von Teese in that way, but what I really admire about both ladies is the commitment to everyday style. It's all in the details from the red lips down to the pointed heels and this stylish blogger certainly has those details down pat.

Blogger Love: Fancy Fine

I know there hasn't been a blog of the week for a while now, but I'm hoping to get back on track to showcase some of my favorite blogs and fashionistas. I thought I'd start back up with one of my favorite bloggers, the always gorgeous Ashley of Fancy Fine. I recently had the pleasure of making her acquaintance at the Blogger Picnic during NYC Fashion Week and not only was she impeccably dressed, rocking a Laura Ashley original, but incredibly sweet as well.
When it comes to her blog, I love that whether flowers in her hair or bows on her shoes, she seems to have a never ending supply of fantastic vintage dresses to match, each more adorable than the next! Definitely keep this blog bookmarked for gorgeous photos, covet-worthy vintage, and an overall glimpse into her adorably stylish life. Be sure and check out her Etsy Shop as well for some fabulous vintage pieces of your own!

Baby blue is definitely her color!

Blogger Love: Missed Connections

I'd seen a few Missed Connection images before via tumblr, but my friend sent me the blog last night and I knew it should be Blog of the Week! Missed Connections is an illustration blog by Sophie Blackall, which takes inspiration from the missed connections of others and creates something whimsical from them. The images are ridiculously adorable and the sentiment behind them ranges from sweet and heart-warming to fascinating or strange.
As someone who loves to hear stories of chance meetings on the train or cute, romantic gestures you thought no one did anymore, this charming blog puts romance back into those small, everyday moments when you're feeling sort of invisible.
You can buy some of Sophie's prints at her Etsy shop and her book of Missed Connections will soon be out late September. Click here for more information on pre-ordering.

Blogger Love: From Me To You

I previously blogged about Jamie Beck's fantastic CoCo Rocha cinemgraphs on BUST.com, but I didn't really get to talk about her photography blog itself, From Me To You. The photos are stunning and you really get a glimpse inside the world as she see it. My absolute favorite part though are her gorgeous inspiration shoots. She doesn't do outfit posts too often, but when she does, they are extra special. Under the "Daily Outfits" link on the side of her blog is the collection of  inspired looks she's created. I like that they're not necessarily literal, but you can definitely see the inspiration. The above photo is Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face inspired. She's also done looks inspired by Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Jean Seberg, Jackie O, and Lauren Bacall. All timeless inspiration choices!

I've personally been inspired by her inspiration (lots of inspiration going around huh?)! I did an earlier post about creating a look inspired by her Lauren Bacall-inspired look.

Blogger Love: Tome&Lorenzo

I thought I'd showcase one of the blogs I go to the most for entertainment news and fashion opinions I respect: Tom&Lorenzo. I only recently realized they changed their official blog name from Project Rungay  to Tom&Lorenzo. It makes sense though since when the blog first began in 2006 it was primarily about Project Runway, but covers a lot more now. Even if you didn't keep up with the episodes of PR, this blog was the perfect way to keep up with the winners, drama, and hilarity of the show.
Overall now they've got fashion "In and Outs," recaps of their favorite shows, and commentary on photo shoots or editorials. I'm a big fan of their Glee , Mad Men, andWalking Dead recaps. It's the first thing I go to after I watch the show wondering if our opinions will match up. My favorite part has probably been their costume analysis of Mad Men, or "Mad Style." They were amazingly intricate, picking up on small details and what they mean for each character. It's something I haven't seen anywhere else that detailed and it made me even more in awe of Mad Men's costume designer, Janie Bryant...and of course in awe of the work the guys did breaking down and screencapping each costume they could find.
I ran into Tom and Lorenzo outside the Project Runways finale show this past year they were just the nicest. They introduced me to Uli from Project Runway and we all gossiped about the drama and who should win this season. I was in blogger heaven! While they get invited to fashion shows and hobnob with Project Runway contestants, the great thing about them is that no matter who they know or or who they meet, they are still relatable fans so reading their commentary is like gossiping with your best friend about all your favorite shows!

Blogger Love: Gala Darling

Though her outfits are plain fabulous, Gala Darling is much more than just a style blog. She is a positive force of energy in the uncertain World Wide Web. Whether through her fashionable, fun ensembles or her Radical Self Love Series, "Love and Sequins" (sort of self help for those who hate "self help"), Gala Darling is one of the most positive forces out there. I like that she actually has fun with her fashion (sequins and glitter are always a plus!). My other favorite part is her "Things I Love Thursdays." She points out the coolest links of the moment, but also makes you remember the little things in life. This week, it was "smoothies for breakfast" and "second-hand books" on her list that made me smile.
